What is Play TV?

Cheap PS3 Games.PlayTV.jpgSo we’ve all got excited recently over the PS3s improved hard disk size, what with the 80GB PS3 being launched in August and with the news that the a 160GB PS3 is due sometime soon, but why these sudden increases in disk space? After all none of the other Specs have changed, the processor is still the same, the bodywork looks as broodingly black as ever, the games are pretty much the same… so why do we need more hard drive space. Enter Play TV. Launched at more or less the same time as the 80GB PS3, Play TV is designed to convert your PS3 into a PVR, much like SKY+, but without the need for a satellite dish. With Play TV you can pause and rewind live TV, record 2 channels simultaneously thanks to its twin tuner and with its 7 day electronic program guide you can queue the programs you want to record individually, or you can go for the essential series link option that every self-respecting PVR must feature in today’s world.

On top of that the Tuners are HD-READY meaning you’ll be able to view HD programming when it becomes available (although the word is that this feature is not available as of yet, but will be added at a later date)
